Agencies change websites and Facebook after ad watchdog intervenes

Two leading estate agency groups have changed website details of properties after complaints were lodged with the Advertising Standards Authority.

The ASA received a complaint about Ward & Partners, owned by Arun Estate Agencies: it included a claim about the number of bedrooms in the property being misleading.

A very similar complaint was lodged with the ASA about a property listing on the website of Hunters Property Group. Again the wording was said to be misleading.

In both cases the ASA raised the concerns with the agencies which then agreed to change the wording.

There was also a complaint to the ASA about a Facebook page. There was an accusation that Scott's Estates used photos without consent on its Facebook entry.

Once again, the ASA raised the issues informally and the social media entry was changed.
