Agents Do Charity...and they're having a ball...

Agents' Giving: No less than £20,000 has been raised at the Agents Giving Ball where Phil Spencer and 240 of the great and good of the industry got together to celebrate the amazing fundraising activities of the last year.

One of the highlights of the evening was the announcement of Agents Giving’s Fundraising Champions. Those honoured were Paramount, Luke Jones of Fresh Start Properties, VTUK, Premier Lettings in Bath, and Avery Estate Agents in Somerset.

“We're privileged see a huge range of fundraising activities that are going on all around the country and we are delighted to be able to highlight a small handful. Hopefully seeing what these people have done, will inspire even more to take on the challenge and get involved. Not only does it result in doing good, but also it can help develop strong team values" says Agents Giving chairman Peter Knight.

Albion In The Community: Mark Harrington, the owner of Harrington’s lettings, is being joined by some staff members in attempting the New York Marathon.
Mark says: "We'd love your support and you can donate just £5 to Marks chosen charity Albion in the Community by texting ‘MHNY60 £5’ to 70070, or you can donate more online.
Albion in the Community is the charitable arm of Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club. It works across Sussex to help make sport more accessible for all, tackle inequality, improve health and education, and provide opportunities.

Community Savings: mydeposits Jersey and Community Savings, the Channel Islands charity that focuses on providing financial advice and support, are delighted to announce a local support relationship offering Jersey residents face-to-face advice on tenancy deposit protection.

From November 2 new legislation comes into play that will require all landlords and letting agents to protect their tenant’s deposits with mydeposits Jersey, a scheme authorised by the States of Jersey to administer tenancy deposit protection. The drop-in service will launch on November 2 and will enable Jersey residents to meet face to face with Community Savings staff and ask questions relating to tenancy deposit protection.

Chickens To Africa: Throughout October, November and December, Searches UK will donate chickens to families in Africa on behalf of every client that processes an order. Clients can help contribute at least three chickens when they order their searches in each of these months.

With natural disasters, failed crops, food price hikes and limited job opportunities taking their toll on countries in Africa, Searches UK says this initiative is a positive step to improve the standards of people’s lives in countries such as Zambia, Ethiopia, Lesotho, Uganda and Kenya.

Streets Ahead Foundation: A team from Croydon estate agents Streets Ahead has raised £1,600 for local charities after taking on a tough Nuts Challenge assault course. The 15 strong team tackled seven kilometres of mud and obstacles with names like The Wall, Hell River and Kamikaze at the Nuts Challenge course at Swires Farm in Dorking.

Their effort pushes them closer to the £25,000 target set to raise money for the Streets Ahead Foundation charity to mark the estate agent’s 25th Anniversary. The total raised for foundation this year so far is a brilliant £18,100.

There are three major fund raising events for the Streets Ahead Foundation scheduled for the autumn: a Pool Night, a Quiz Night and an annual Charity Dinner.  Anyone who would like to participate or contribute to the Foundation fund should contact: lucy.day@streetsahead.info.

Naomi House and Jackspace: Matt Dalton, branch manager of Leaders in Port Solent, recently faced his two greatest fears when he undertook a skydive to support his local children’s hospice Naomi House and Jacksplace.

Despite having a genuine fear of both flying and heights, Matt fell 10,000 feet from a plane to raise more than £650 for Leaders’ Charity of the Year. “The experience was amazing, literally the best experience in my life! Free falling 5,000 feet in 30 seconds, then gliding the remaining 5,000 feet is something you cannot put into words" he says.
