Interview of Graeme Edwards
Written by the Estate Agent Today team
Graeme Edwards, General Manager at Ravensworth

Who are you and what does it say on your business card?

I am the General Manager of Ravensworth, which is what it says on my card.  My role is to lead and oversee all areas of the business from strategy to operations, and ultimately deliver the required contribution to our parent company, The Printed Group.

What is Ravensworth and what does it do?

Ravensworth supplies exclusively only to the property industry and we have nearly 50 years’ experience of doing so, which means our clients trust us not only deliver high quality design and print, but to truly understand their day-to-day challenges.

What services do you offer and in what ways do you work with estate and letting agents?

We like to categorise what we do to make it easier for agents to understand how what we offer fits with their needs – whether that be raising brand awareness, getting more valuations, selling or letting more properties, and encouraging loyalty and retention.  Our products range from letterheads/stationery, through property brochures, window cards, branded merchandise (and now PPE), to CGI, social media, door drop and direct mail flyers and letters.  Basically everything an agent needs to market their business.

What makes your product different and how does it benefit agents?

We no longer believe supplying high quality print, with fast turnaround times, and at a great price is enough.  Our focus on benefiting agents has shifted to enabling them to more with less, and getting valuable time back.  Without going into detail here, our investment in our integrated ordering platforms means our clients can control their brand, control their budgets and spend, and print with us at the click of a button.  We focus on making printing with us easier than anyone else.

What is your greatest achievement in your current role and what made it so special?

I would defer to my team to comment on that!  All I would say is I have helped to provide leadership, focus, and direction for the business.  I work for my people and of course our customers.

What is the most satisfying part of your job?

I know I smile most when I read positive feedback from our clients and we are doing stuff right.

Why will the move from Zoopla to The Printed Group benefit agents?

Zoopla is a great company, no doubt.  However, The Printed Group – with its other brand, printed.com – truly understands print, we are closer to our manufacturing facility meaning we can further improve the quality, distribution, and the time frames for what we do.

What is your property prediction for 2021?

We still view 2021 with great caution, for obvious reasons, and for other reasons I believe print will play a greater part (amongst the chaos of digital media) in cutting through the noise, especially when everyone is still at home.  Like we saw after the first Lockdown, I believe a V-shaped recovery will prevail.

Country house or city apartment?

Country house (preferably on a river bank with salmon fishing rights…)

Trendy roof terrace or traditional English garden?

Traditional English garden (including barbeque…)

Would you rather be a free-moving tenant or settled owner occupier?

I have always been a settled owner occupier!

What is your favourite room in your home?

Probably the kitchen, although my menu is limited to stuff which includes chili and garlic!

Homes under the Hammer or Location, Location, Location?

Definitely Location, Location, Location.
