Hello and welcome to the latest edition of Industry Views.

One of the biggest stories this week was the news that the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has upheld a complaint made against IMS Residential Ltd for the way the firm has been advertising its fees.

The Derby agent had been advertising the headline figure of 90.9% with a reference to VAT owed by the vendor in significantly smaller text underneath. The ASA says agents should be advertising their fees including VAT so IMS' headline figure should read 1.08%.

An interesting issue which will undoubtedly affect a lot of sales agents, further information can be found in Graham Norwood's news piece as well as an article from the Industry Views archive written by compliance specialist David Beaumont on agents' complicated relationship with VAT.

For a full recap of this week's other big stories in under three minutes, our weekly video roundup is sure to keep you informed.

This week's Industry Views articles include a piece from Rob Hailstone on bullying estate agents and some insight from the conveyancer's side on the controversial topic of referrals.

After a week off last week, In Profile returns with some interesting views from Richard Greener, the Director of Richard Green estate agents. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the most stressful part of Richard's job is dealing with solicitors; see what he has to say on some of estate agency's other important issues here.
