Zoopla has scored a first by allowing property videos to be played on its site.

The launch of Property Movies is in partnership with VistaBee, a real estate video company.

ZPG’s Property Movies, which can be ordered via Zoopla Pro, are embedded and integrated within the property listing details.

Zoopla said the movies are designed to enhance the consumer experience by ensuring that property listings stand out, and to act as a vendor retention tool.

The movies also have the added benefit of being easy to share via social media and email.

The launch comes as recent research from Google shows that video is the fastest form of online advertising and that 46% of consumers are more likely to seek out information about a product or service after seeing it in an online video.

Andy Hill, business services director of Zoopla Property Group, said: “Given the speed at which this form of advertising is growing, it’s great to be able to offer this to our members who wish to ensure their listings stand out from the crowd.”

An example of one of Property Movies can be seen at the link below, but as an aside, EAT wonders why all property videos seem to play the same annoying backing music.

We should all join together and not support one new thing that costs real money and earns nothing! In the rare event something is a listing winner we all copy it and the advantage has gone, yet the cost is still there! The guy with the stick on colour photos is right, once one got them, they all did and no one achieved anything other than increased costs.

Are we selling more than pre RM and Zoopla, nope!

Been the same for years, those ignorant of real agency will try to sell any new idea as "Its only one more listing"! This will be supported by those that think all that is needed is to advertise on a web site.........................

Video can help sell a home, as it generates more interest in the subject property than similar alternatives. The main benefit to the estate agent, though, is that vendors love them, which makes video a great instruction winner.

Video is now being used to help marketing efforts in just about every other industry, because consumers love to watch online video. In that respect it doesn't matter whether you're selling houses or anything else - you've got to give the consumer what they want. iViewProperty clients have noticed a definite increase in new instructions and market share since introducing genuine video tours. A lot of agents try to hang on to traditional tactics alone, but the more innovative ones are embracing video as well, and are seeing the benefits

    Yeah Dean, shut up!
No-one wants to know any more that the secret to selling houses is getting off you backside and actually selling houses. Its all to easy for the lazy ones to say 'its all on the internet now'. You keep going my son, but keep that little golden nugget of information under wraps.

Love it and good to see a portal embracing change. If we left it to some in the industry we'd still be sticking photographs on A4 bits of paper.

Well done for creative thinking, it's what the industry needs and let's make sure we all up our game...

Does this help sell a property quicker?

Unfortunately, from traffic to our site which has properties with videos and those without, there is no difference in performance. The google research is across all products. It needs to be considered against how people look for a house.

You know the public will love it though

Mark, the video is remarkably similar to a virtual tour, although i can see it's not. If someone is actually visiting to film, they need to be more imaginative with the filming and editing.. its slightly (very) better than a virtual tour.

Great idea, just get the provider to be more creative!

Sorry, but this is not a first. GSPC has had video (from Vistabee, formerly Shoothome) embedded in our web site since November last year. You can see an example here: http://www.gspc.co.uk/property/205213 if you are curious.

    BTW, clients love it.

Hey kids, Ive got a real cool way to sell houses. No pics, no movies. Its called a phone and all it takes is an experienced agent to go through our card index and call people with wads of wonga. If they haven't got wads of wonga there and then - I can even offer to help them get it by offering to sell their's to other people looking in my magic box.

Screw special effects. Agency is about networking work in and communicating with the punters.

    What a waste of time!

If this was a good idea, people would have used Facetime/skype for viewings for years. But its not, so people havent...

How much is this costing to get done? I'd rather Zoopla be more competitive with their fees than offer me useless video option.

The movies are real movies, no trickery there.

Out of interest is this facility proper filming or just the pictures being moved? If it's the latter the use of the word movie is surely misdescription.

Good idea though if it's easily activated from the pictures that the Agent sends through in their feed data.
