Zoopla launches new heatmaps feature |
Monday 1st August 2011
Zoopla has launched ‘heatmaps’ on its site which show the average current value of homes across the UK in a geographic format.
The new heatmaps can be viewed at varying zoom levels, down to individual postcodes.
In addition to the new heatmaps, Zoopla has also added a variety of other local property information that provides an essential research tool for potential house hunters.
Located on the ‘market overview’ pages, these newly launched stats include, for any geographic area, the number of properties on the market and average asking prices, the average size of properties in the area, the average price per square foot and much more.
Alex Chesterman, Zoopla’s founder and CEO, said: “The addition of heatmaps to our site allows users to easily visualise the relative property values in any area of the country.
“Together with the unique market data we are now making available, this is all part of our mission to empower users with the information they need to make the right property decisions, and to become the most useful property resource in the UK.

Oh Dear,
Ive come over all ‘ im in agreement with BRIT123’…………….I cant help it. It must be horrid being Zoopla – snazzy ideas badly executed and still being mullered by old RM loosing money by the bucket and unless they come up with something really special apart from the odd press release probably doesn’t have long on this earth. Whats that web site that lists loads of cars for sale, not Autotrader the other one? What about the site you can buy books and DVDs on, not Amazon the other one………there isn’t another one and I think we can safely say that its going the same way with property portals. Jonnie |

Just had a look, no key at all. All it is a mass of colours based on I guess asking prices.
It could be good if it showed rate of sales and the average price of those sales, so you can see the stagnant or active areas. As it is it is pretty meaningless, just a gimmick to get people on the poor zoopla site. |

The worrying thing is that the average person has no idea house rubbish the zoopla price index is.
Maybe if they could do it it for land registry, Halifax or Nationwide it would have more weight. Zoopla is a joke. |
| | Lets hope its better than the current house price guide that is totally inaccurate. |
