Spicerhaart’s first Chief Operating Officer has quit after just months in the job.

Spicerhaart announced the appointment of Martin Dorchester only last September.

At the time, the 47-year-old, formerly global head of consulting for Gerson Lehrman Group, said he was looking forward “to helping to build a great long-term business”.

However, Spicerhaart is now insisting that the appointment was only intended to be an interim one for six months. The group says that the departure was unconnected to Spicerhaart’s ongoing legal battle between its Fine brand and that of Fine & Country.

Dorchester lives in Scotland but divided his time between there and Spicerhaaart’s headquarters in Colchester, Essex.

He had board responsibility for Valunation, Spicerhaart’s valuing arm, together with the group’s corporate sales division, and also oversaw Spicerhaart’s acquisitions programme.

    Someone told me Paul Smith had become a professional wrestler. Shame he hasn't.

    Second thoughts, maybe not. Those trunks can be tight.

    LOL, I took a manager job with Haart and after only 2-months I put the office keys and car keys through the office letterbox when my wages hit my account!!

    I brought them several previous years of experience running a major estate agency in Peterborough, I thought that they would value what I had to offer them when I took over the manager role of their Cambridge branch. The idiots were really looking for a team leader to just watch the staff as they give no decision making powers to their managers. I spent 95% of my time filling in forms of how many viewings each person had made etc. and when I felt we needed to sharpen up in certain area's that would improve office performance, I was ignored. Total idiots. They deserve all the crap they get!!!

    I said from the outset that he would really enjoy the attitude and culture of Paul Smith and Russel Jervis.

    This outcome was a dot on the card, oil and water seldom mix well.

    @Psalm 4 - somehow I doubt that.

    Mind you, I do hope that Spicy Faart get a thorough kicking in court.
