Property portal newcomer Property Index has launched a new national field sales team – which looks uncannily like Rightmove’s former sales team.

Property Index has recruited eight business development managers who were with Rightmove until the latter made redundancies last month as part of a restructure which took the emphasis off sales.

The eight are: Avril Reid, who will be responsible for Scotland; Darren Saunders (London and the Home Counties); Jacqui Brodie (Wales); Jasmin Jalaf (West Midlands); Maria Jacobs (Yorkshire and the North); Maria Leivars (East Midlands); Shane Groves (South Coast and West); and Sonia Kaye (North-West).

All will report to Property Index’s UK commercial director Ben Grove, who was formerly with Propertyfinder.

Property Index has launched at a time of ‘portal wars’, with established subscription models under challenge by free websites including Globrix and Propertylive. Property Index is not free but only charges on a ‘pay per results’ model.

Launched in September, it now has over 3,000 agents and developments listing hundreds of thousands properties.

Lee Bramzell, managing director of Property Index, said: “With proven track records, this team will help take us from strength to strength. We offer a fresh-approach marketing solution to agents who are tightening their belts, and our new recruits will be aiming to show estate agents that we can generate high-quality leads on a ‘pay for results’ basis, even in a difficult market.”

Well, I have just seen the latest comScore internet traffic figures for Nov 08 and it shows Property Index pulling away with more Unique Visitors than Globrix and Fish4. So it looks like they are doing something right.

pay-per-lead makes sense.... Property Index.com is a brilliant idea and User-Friendly for Agents.... Question is.... can they attract the public to log on and use it... if so then it's the future for Property Portals

What a strange way to promote a new business, most agents disliked rightmove because of their bully tactics. I wont be going anywhere near this shower.

It's all very well the news I keep reading about how these property portals are driving forward to get new business from agents but I am a letting agent and have been listing on Property Index for over a month now and have had NO leads. When are they going to start attracting the other all important side of the market - i.e. tenants?

more like makes the "wrong move" - I cannot imagine agents & developers queuing up because they are going to get that special rightmove experience from a bunch rightmove “casualties” - odd way to promote a new portal
