New iPhone app launched by Vebra and Core

Friday 21st May 2010
GMG Property Services – parent company of Vebra, Core and CFP – has launched an iPhone app.

In partnership with technology company World Archipelago, the individually branded app allows agents to show their current property stock to potential vendors and also allows buyers to search for properties whilst on the move.

The user can flip through property images, read property descriptions, view their location, email a friend and contact the agent directly. A feature on the iPhone can highlight properties close to the user’s current location.

Mark Goddard, group managing director of GMG Property Services, said: “There are over 1.2 million iPhones already in the UK, and there is a recognised and enthusiastic audience for apps.

“Around 3–8% of agency traffic now comes from iPhone users and this is increasing.

“iPhone users will be able to download the app for free from the Apple Store and access the agency’s entire database of properties, including full details and photos. This will be a huge benefit to estate and lettings agents as the app will widen their reach to the ever-growing iPhone user base.”

The app is available to all GMG Property Services clients for a set-up fee of £750, followed by monthly subscriptions from £20.

A drinking, smoking, wide boy with plastic shoes, cheap Next suit, 1.3 Corsa with a big bore exhaust and wicked sub woofer. Plus anyone else who is reading and posting on EAT before 9:30 on a Monday morning when they should to be chasing up the weekend viewings.

83% of agents already use Rightmove and of the 15% that haven't got software most will have access to a free App through Findaproperty.
£750 plus another £240/annum on top of support costs doesn't look like a cheap instruction winner to me, especially to attract a maximum 8% of applicants and then only 5% of them will be able to proceed. A potential 0.4% of all sales?
When there are figures to show which of the 650 million hits on Rightmove go to produce the expected 750,000 sales/annum and there are figures to show how many of the 8% App traffic go on to produce XX% of sales it might be worth considering, till then I will just keep on phoning round the few folk I have qualified.

An applicant with an iPhone has £28000 less to spend on a property than one without, so £420 less commission for your agency.

I will let you work out the cost of spending your commission on the beer fags, iPhone and bling for your car.

the real cost of an iPhone is -

and what exactly is your point?
Added by Jimmy on 2010-05-21 17:15:03

This feels like a cheap instruction winner. There are a few apps offers appearing but this I think is the cheapest. i agree if you are looking for traffic then you should use Rightmove, but for an agent to have a cheap app seems a good step - certainly for £750.
I hope they are also considering the ipad, blackberry and google apps at some point.
Good timings given all the hype on Apple and Facebook etc

Have paid a fortune to GMG for Solex Homeview over the years and they want to charge for every little tweak and now offering to skim me even more for what should be a FREE app. Use Findaproperty app!!!!

from negotiators with a card index box and a list of Hot applicants with nothing to sell.

Never mind about Hips I am waiting for Agents to be allowed to talk to applicants again. Come on Mr Shapps lift the ban on agents using the telephone.

The iPad launches soon and that will again change the game.

£84,000 (minimum)

Monthly phone bill £70
£70 x 12= £840
£840 is 3% interest on £28,000 of mortgage. That will cost roughly 3x over the life of the martgage so £84,000.

Is it any wonder the average age of a FTB is now 37?
An iPhone owning, 10/day smoker who goes out a couple of times a week (spending a total of £320/month on nothing vital) is depriving themselves of £128,000 buying power.

Ask any FTB what they are spending per month on "Stuff" (Things they don't actually need) multiply by 400 to get the mortgage equivalent of "Stuff". Multiply by 1200 to find out the 25 year cost of finance.... and if house prices continue to double every 7 years (as they have long term historically done) multiply by 9600 to find out why owning an iPhone, drinking smoking, shoes, jeans handbag (The list goes on) means they might be having a real good time but every Quid costs them £9600.

Oh yeah and how do you know this? plucked out of the air

Um... aren't agents only customers mainly with Vebra to feed to Rightmove etc...??? So why would they pay to be on an app that the public won't download, because they have no idea who GMG are???
Added by Agent X on 2010-05-21 09:14:40

Hilarious. Agents have to pay??? Woops GMG.

How it is different or better than the App that comes free with Rightmove.
Does this one get to the applicants that aren't looking on Rightmove or something?
