Market 'spy' service does huge new deal with Countrywide

Wednesday 21st October 2009
Vizzihome, the market intelligence provider that gives you the inside track on what your competitors are (and aren’t) up to, has done a deal with Countrywide.

It increases by 30% the number of agents now using Vizzihome, launched only last November, and is a major coup for founder Kevin Hollinrake.

Hollinrake, who also heads up Hunters estate agents based in the north, is also hoping to pull off possible deals with IT providers.

He said: “We are working on integrations with several estate agency software companies, but have no formal agreements at this stage.”

Vizzihome provides real-time independent online market share reports for estate agents and letting agents, allowing members to track their market share online by accessing information on the local property market and competitors.

The service also details which properties are moving, and which are sticking, thereby feeding intelligent canvassing campaigns.

Members also have access to tools that identify sellers who may be considering instructing or switching agents.

New features include a customer phone book which cross-references the electoral roll and directory inquiries data across the UK. This allows agents to find out the name and phone number of any vendor for any property currently on the market – all at the click of a button.

Hollinrake said: “We are delighted to be working with Countrywide. New instructions are at an absolute premium in this market and our product is all about helping proactive agents win new listings and build their market share.

“We have many new exciting features in development and believe that Vizzihome will become an essential tool for any serious player in the industry.”

Not really illegal - marrying up properties already on the market and the electoral register which is freely available - not really breaking DPA

Ooops, Data Protection Act!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not allowed to hold and pass information on. Go to jail and never to come out.

If anyone is really naive enough to think these web sites won’t sell anything they can and that you own the data, you will be the very same ones that built rightmove to the power it is and continue to advertise on it.

What I fail to understand is why Rightmove and the other portals allow Vizzi to build a business based on plundering their data source. Vizzi seem very reluctant to confirm where their information comes from so I wonder what they have to hide. Is it possible that Rightmove are selling Vizzi the information? That’s your information by the way, allowing the competition to view the inner workings of your business and what’s more you pay them for it!? Surely Mike Shipside has more sense then to get in bed with Devil?

Anybody with half a brain is x directory these days. For many years we manually ordered the electoral roll (at quite a cost) and used the phone book. In the 90's it worked a treat but nowadays its pointless form of touting. In fact all of the work Vizzi are doing can be done by a decent Negotiator.

Ironic....Complaints about touting to Ombudsman on the rise! and then Countrywide are given the phone numbers of all vendors on the market by vizzi!
