The heatwave has sent sales hotting up in seven out of 12 regions, our ‘man with the board’ survey has revealed.
Agency Express said that last month, there was a national increase of 8.5% in numbers of Sold boards, with robust figures from London and the southern regions. London was up by 43.5%, the South-East by 29.3% and the South-West by 19.7%.
However, there was the usual seasonal slowdown in new listings, with an overall national decline of 13.5% month on month.
Biggest faller was London, with a drop of 19.7% in new For Sale signs.
Looking more closely at the data for individual towns and cities, only three reported increases for new listing for sale properties.
York came in third with a rise of 0.49% on properties coming on to the market and 17.7% for properties sold. Southampton reported a 0.79% increase for properties coming to the market and a notable 75.61% increase on properties sold.
The UK’s hottest spot and most consistent was Coventry with an increase of 12.63% on properties coming on to the market and a robust increase of 40% on properties sold.
Stephen Watson, managing director of Agency Express, said: “July has been an interesting month for the UK property market. Figures for new properties coming on to the market do follow the seasonal trend. However, sales have shone.”
