A horrifying incident in which a youth ran into an estate agent after apparently slashing his wrists with a broken bottle ended with him being tasered by police for his own safety.

Capital Estate Agents in Leyton, East London, did not comment.

The drama began when the 18-year-old dashed into the agents’ smart-looking premises late last Friday afternoon and locked himself in a staff toilet.

Police were called and tried to negotiate with him. A tense 90-minute stand-off followed before officers used the taser and then arrested him on suspicion of affray and attempted grievous bodily harm.

The youth, who is said to have sustained a broken collar bone, was first taken to hospital and then taken into police custody before being released on bail.

The incident is not being reported to the Independent Police Complaints Commission, the Metropolitan Police has said.

Why? Why this story? What real connection does this have with an estate agent? How does reporting this story help anyone? As an agent I feel very sad that a story like this should be reported on and then commented on, within the confines of a website that sells itself as reporting pertinent news stories about estate agency. Just sad and really quite upsetting to all those involved.

Don't tase me bro - have a look on YouTube.

Now there's the problem with tasers, they don't do much damage to you in their own right, but as your muscles twitch and thrash, you do damage to yourself.

I suppose it give the agent something to talk about.
