Have old fashioned applicants disappeared? Do you still get people calling to say "please register me, I've just started to look"?

We've got some fascinating figures on this from across our 1200 member branches, who between August and November had:

· 209,000 applicant registrations

· 105,000 of which have made one or more viewing appointments

· Of that 105,000, over 90% booked a viewing at registration time.

So, that means that almost all of the viewings were made with applicants that didn't bother to register until they saw something that interested them enough to book an appointment!

So, where are they finding information on the properties they decide to view? We started to look at enquiry sources. We had to apply a bit of guesswork here, for various reasons but…

· 4% of the 209,000 applicants are recorded with source "Rightmove".

· 9% show source as the agents’ websites

· 2% show sources that include Zoopla, Primelocation, Find a Property or other national portals.

Amazingly, even in these days of necessity of maximising efficiency of marketing spend:

· 44% are set to "not known" or "I forgot to ask" and

· 29% don't have an email address recorded.

· 36% don't have a mobile number.

Conclusions? Difficult with such diverse members all operating in a different way, but we're surprised that the enquiries from "own sites" is so much higher than Rightmove. However, Rightmove visitors that request full details on an Expert Agent hosted property get redirected to the member's own website so that would bump up traffic to the agent’s own site
