Geoff Core steps down from his software company |
Monday 22nd March 2010
Geoff Core has left the company that he founded in 1994.
Core Systems, which had a strong reputation for service and innovation, was bought by the Guardian division, GMG Property Services, in 2007.
The year before, GMG had acquired Core’s arch rival Vebra. Together, the two firms commanded around 22% of market share.
The popular Core was widely liked and respected, whilst the company’s latest product, EncoreLive, broke new ground and was subsequently ‘rebadged’ by Vebra.
Last September, GMG had to make various cost cuts, which including closing some offices and merging operations. It is understood that Core decided to resign then.
A spokeswoman for GMG Property Services said: “Geoff Core has stepped down from day to day operations but will remain as a consultant for GMG Property Services going forward.
“This has been part of a long-term plan and was communicated to key clients and staff in January.”

| | Geoff Core is a gentleman, and this is sad news for Estate Agency. Always smiling, always polite and a genuine knowlegde of the industry. A lot of people owe this man a lot of respect and thanks. |
| | Yes big loss for them, always been one of the major players on the software side of things and I can only wish him well for the future. |
| | Very sorry to see Geoff depart and wish him all the very best but...........what/who are Core systems now? |
| | Part of a long term plan?, since Geoff decided to resign in September then. |
