Prices of family houses in all parts of London have shot up to average over £1m, Winkworth has reported.

The firm has produced for the first time a London family house price index which looks at values of houses with three to five bedrooms and some outdoor space, whether a garden or patio.

In central London, the average price for a typical family home went up 5.5% in the first six months of this year to £2.76m.

Across London as a whole, the average price for a typical family house rose by 3.8% to £1.5m.

Winkworth chief executive Dominic Agace said that demand for family-size properties is such that offers are being made before property details have been issued. He said demand for three- and four-bedroom houses is easily outstripping supply.

    Cambridge is also incredibly expensive. Here's a bog-standard two-bed terrace for £310,000.

What Cambridge has in common with London is an influx of foreign buyers taking advantage of our debased Pound (courtesy of 0.5% interest rates). Start with a different currency and in many cases, the UK house price crash has already happened

Because the poor souls in London have had to sit back and watch the market rise again this year.
.Yes i was lucky to have all that money but if you read the sects site a majority say they are cash buyers..
.i am not having a go a specific people who do not understand what goes on over there.
.i was a member for four years but if you write anything that the sect do not want other members to see you are soon railroaded...
.It really is a sect and behaves like a sect...all the good posters have gone now..remember dr.bubbs and all the other informed posters who warned of this mess we are in and told people to get into gold @$350 a oz.
Look what happens when you mention gold or some of the good things labour did do for the people and you will find out what i am talking about....get out of the place because its really a dark place to be in and causes dark moods and inaction in your life decisions.

    @bruce spammer

"ps i have bought and its the best felling in the world knowing its all yours and i can paint it how i like or cut lots of trees down if i want...priceless"

Good job that you don't have a mortgage then otherwise it wouldn't be your house. Most are not in the fortunate position to have hundreds of thousands of pounds lying around.

"held off buying costing them thousands and thousands. "
Can you explain how falling prices have cost buyers thousands of pounds?

BTW, The land owner paints and cuts down the trees down because this house is his liability. He has also replaced the boiler in the last 18 months. How nice of him, must have cost him thousands.

hpc is full of right wing facist nutters who think the world owes them a house as they have such good jobs
.Some of them have been waiting from 2005 to be able to buy.
If anyone dares to question the mantra then they are firstly put on a naughty boy list and your posts are pre screened and then you are banned for not believing in the sect and its masters...
The place HAS destroyed a few peoples life's because they listened to posters and held off buying costing them thousands and thousands.
.You will never read the truth over their because it is one of the most moderated places on the web..Most members do not even realise what's going on as it is all done cloak and dagger ..open your eyes and do not let donkeys lead you into a dark place. HPC is full on people on the tablets because they are unable to face up to life as it is not how they want it....i pity them as the herd is being manipulated by donkeys....Bruce banner gets most people banned...
ps i have bought and its the best felling in the world knowing its all yours and i can paint it how i like or cut lots of trees down if i want...priceless

So, with a 30% deposit and 4 times joint salary which appears to be par for the course the family needs to be bringing in over £250k per year or £21k per month.

    That is nearly footballer money.

North-Easterners will certainly find that price tag hard to comprehend, especially as their region is leading the falls in Britain:

Something less swankey under 100 grand: http://www.daft.ie/searchsale.daft?id=576498

The type of house we will be buying is a 45 min commute 3 bed detached 0.75 acres 115k: http://www.daft.ie/searchsale.daft?id=611671

rant: Mate - these are prices that we can't even comprehend - us being Northeners and all! ;o)

The proof of the pudding of course will be in the selling - and the price paid. Will it only sell for two thirds of the asking as Rightmove claim??

    One to watch...

I would draw attention to the following excerpts from the Agent's particulars:

"A second large reception room leads into a charming conservatory with lovely views accross and access to the garden...

The excepcional 84' x 70' West facing garden..."

Now if I was that vendor, I'd be just a bit disturbed that their hoity-toity Selling Agent cannot spell or construct sentences...

I would recommend the Fee go towards a good spell-check/grammatic bolt-on to their word processing software! ;o)

Before HPC's come and moan about house prices, the simple answer is if you can't afford it, don't live there.
