We are nearing the end of another eventful year that saw, amongst other things, the introduction of the Mortgage Market Review (MMR), the launch of easyProperty, the drama of the Scottish referendum (with all its potential consequences), and estate agents being beamed into the nation's living rooms in the BBC's fly on the wall documentary Under Offer.

We have detailed the highs and lows of 2014 in a special A-Z video roundup which you can view here. In the meantime, here are just three of the events that look set to make the biggest headlines in 2015

26/01/2015 - The arrival of OnTheMarket

Agents' Mutual's much-anticipated new portal, which has provoked so much debate and division in 2014, finally goes live on January 26, otherwise known as OnTheMarket day. It has staunch supporters and even stauncher detractors, but the proof of the pudding will, as they say, be in the eating. Will Ian Springett's brainchild really be able to challenge the dominance of Rightmove and Zoopla We will be covering this story throughout the year as the new portal's effect on the industry begins to become clear.

17/04/2015 - And the winners are

The annual Estate and Letting Agent Awards (ESTAs) take place in April, honouring the great work of those in the property industry. The awards include Best in County, the People Awards and the Supplier of the Year Award. And of course, there is the annual photo opportunity with Phil Spencer

The ESTAs are just the first of many awards ceremonies throughout the year including the Sunday Times Estate Agency of the Year Awards, the Negotiator Awards and the International Property Awards, all of which we will be covering across Estate Agent Today and Letting Agent Today.

07/05/2015 - General election fever

May's General Election will inevitably have repercussions for the property industry, whoever gets into power. But who will win Will it be a minority Labour government forming a coalition with the SNP, Greens or even the Lib Dems Or will the Tories and UKIP join forces in the event of a hung parliament

At this time, activity in the property market tends to slow down as uncertainty abounds. On the other hand, housing and the state of the property market is bound to be in the news aplenty as these topics are often key talking points and vote winners in the lead-up to any election.

As we move into the New Year we will continue to publicise all the great work of estate and letting agents through our weekly charity and video roundups. We also hope you will continue to discuss and debate your views of the agency world across the sites in the comments sections.

Have a merry Christmas and a happy New Year

(OTM) "...has staunch supporters and even stauncher detractors..." Oh, I don't think it's actually possible to be more staunch than those that support the AM cause. Rank amateurs in a pro game, I would suggest...
