Globrix pledges never to change free to list model

Rumours that Globrix plans to start charging agents £200 a month have been firmly dismissed by its chief executive, Daniel Lee.

Lee said: “We are free to list, and we always will be. We have no intention of ever charging, and if I had to change to a subscription model, I’d shut up shop tomorrow. The rumour is just nonsense.”

Lee said the site would be free to agents wanting to list properties and to have traffic. However, he said: “We do charge for some extra services, and always have done. Some agents want our premium services and are happy to pay for them, but they do not suit all agents.”

He said one new paid-for service to be launched by Globrix is an enhanced traffic generation service, sending greater amounts of traffic and email inquiries to the agent’s own site and possibly utilising a pay-per-lead model.

But, Lee emphasised: “Again, this will not suit all agents, who will continue to be happy with our free service.”

He said that the recent upheaval at loss-making Propertyfinder – whose sale, or part-sale, is currently thought to be going through to Zoopla – was evidence that a paid-for subscription model did not necessarily equate to success.

Anyone who thinks Rightmove will just roll over and die needs to wake up and smell the coffee!! Globrix or no Globrix.

The Rightmove model works! for them and for agents, when the market really begins to recover do think anyone is going to continue complaing about paying rightmove £300 - £400 every month?? NOPE!

As for Dan Lee, why is he always talking shit about other portals. I was at the agency expo last year when him and Lee Bramzell were getting childish trying to slagg off Miles Shipside and Righmove. Fair enough they are competitors but you beat competitors through providing a good service, a good product from a good brand.

Grow up Dan.

hanac we have been using that stuff for 2 years with Prime, Rightmove and Propertyfinder so it aint anything new

Mmmmm that is exactly as I understand it. If you want your properties seen you pay £200 or they will be at the bottom of searches. For Example - your 500k property will appear below 100k properties of the agents who have upgraded meaning some agents will have all there stock at the top. Sounds like a great model to make every one upgrade. It's ok though I am sure they will bring out something else to pay for to get you back to the top once everyone has upgraded. You never know you might end up paying £1000 a month for the upgrades but its ok because its free to list!!!! And you can start paying per lead once you upgrade - did I read that right????

Rightmove are now charging extra for 'a new superior advert', promising '21% more enquiries compared to a standard listing'.
I would rather have a 2 tier system where one tier was free and I could pay for the other if I wanted than paying a substantial amount to Rightmove for what will now be an 'inferior' system unless I pay more.

They are telling the truth - but NOT the whole truth. The new charging introduces a 2 tier system where the free listings appear under those that are paid for.

Globrix will win. This is like Sky versus dinosaurs like ITV. At first I remember everyone thought Sky was a joke and would never penetrate the world population. Look at it now. This will be same. In five years no one will have heard of RightMove. They are destined to be the Netscape of portals.
