Green - Not My Favourite Colour?

Four minutes. That's all it took - four minutes for Gerrard to slot home what we have all been praying for, and we all missed it. Well, all of us unfortunate enough to be watching on ITV HD. My street was divided by screamming and yelling and those silent in anticipation watching a car advert, but it wasnt long before it all became clear and I, along with 20 others, was on my feet, fog horn in one hand and beer flying out of the glass, whilst hugging the nearest countrymen.

And thats pretty much where all the excitment ends for this game. I wont dwell on Robert Green's slippery fingers - I think David Beckham's reaction summed up the disbelief there - but should Green have really stayed on the pitch after that, and was Carragher the right choice for substitution to protect the goalkeeper?

I am a strong believer in Capello and what he is capable of producing out of a team, but after the Green incident all that we saw was a rumbled England side that lacked imagination and confidence in every aspect. Lampard and Gerrard doing what they do best together when they play for England - absolutley nothing; Hesky managing to find the longest blade of grass on the pitch and falling over it, and Jamie Carragher being out-paced in nearly every one-on-one.

Well these are all my views, of course, and we are not out of the race for the top spot, which is currently held by Slovenia, but it just would have been nice to see an England side that looked as confident as some of the other nations at this early stage.

A draw is a draw and we will have to settle with that, but COME ON ENGLAND, let's get started!

For those of you who would rather fry your faces on a George Foreman grill than suffer 90 minutes of testosterone-fuelled shouting (and how very dare you…), head on over to Kate’s column and complain about it all instead.
