An Oxford estate and lettings agent is due to appear in court after being charged with fraud and money laundering.

It follows an investigation by Trading Standards Officers and police.

Zulfiqar Hussain, 42, was arrested following raids on Charles Lawson (Lettings) and a house last November.

The offices of James C Penny Estate and Letting Agents in Walton Street, Jericho, and a flat were also searched.

Hussain faces eight charges of fraud, which are linked to tenants’ deposits. He faces six charges related to breaching regulations listed in the Unfair Trading Regulations Act 2008 and is also accused of two counts of money laundering.

He appeared at Oxford Magistrates’ Court and was granted unconditional bail. He will next appear in court on Friday, October 15.
