The second round of games is underway, with Uruguay, Argentina and Greece showing us really what we expect form the 'bigger' teams in each league and I am confident England will follow.

What we have lacked in flare in the first round, we have definitely seen in caution and is it any coincidence that the team to lead the round with 4 goals over Australia have been playing with this much debated ball all season? We have clearly seen that this ball is the strikers best friend in shooting. Either that or the tournament is full of awful keepers. Let's see. But one thing is evident: the the world's rounded ball has definitely created a stir.

Anyway, onto the all important game, and our boys are off to The Green Point stadium in Cape Town, which so far has only provided draw results -let's be the first to break that trend. We outnumber the Algerian fans with 31,000 of our addicts in attendance, and the rest of us watching on the TV back home... make sure you make enough noise to drown out those bloody vuvuzelas. I did hear on the radio today that they were going to be banned from Wimbledon this year - I actually think they might liven the sport up and create a bit of a laugh, so who knows? You may see me report back in July of my experience being escorted from centre court with my plastic trumpet. Let me know if you would like to see this?

So come on ENGLAND, let's show the world we are in the top flight with other teams. Capello, make Beckenbauer eat his words about us going backwards and don't be afraid to go with the combination of 'Roon-aldo' and 'Crouch-ino' to bring us an abundance for goals.
Im off to get kitted up and well prepared at the pub in anticipation for tonight's battle. Enjoy the weekend and wont it be so much sweeter with a win under our belts and a belly full of beer?!

Come on ENGLAND!!!

Well done to Tania Devlin! The leading manager of the Fantasy Football World Cup after period one. Remember, you all have 20 transfers that you can use in the competition so if your players aren't doing the business it could be time to make those changes for round 2.

For those of you who would rather fry your faces on a George Foreman grill than suffer 90 minutes of testosterone-fuelled shouting (and how very dare you…), head on over to Kate’s column and complain about it all instead.
