New agency jobs board to ban recruitment agencies
Friday 12th March 2010A new online national jobs board for agents is set to launch at Easter.
It will ban recruitment agencies, instead allowing bosses and candidates direct access to each other.
Called PropertyJobsDirect, the board will advertise vacancies in residential sales, lettings, new homes, commercial agency and financial services. Vacancies will also be notified to job seekers’ in-boxes.
Behind it are Ian Dobrin and Sharon Mead-Blandford, recruiters who have evolved their respective agencies, Estate Agency Staff and Estate Agency Personnel, to unite behind the launch, saying they had to move with the times.
Dobrin said: “What makes PJD unique is that it is 100% independent, it is not a recruitment agency and does not accept vacancies from recruitment agencies. Therefore employers will not compete with agencies for the best staff available.”
Dobrin and Mead-Blandford did research among 60 top property employers as to how they would like to recruit.
Dobrin said the results were categorical, with over three-quarters saying they wanted to recruit directly.
Many said they would be able to offer larger salaries if recruitment cost savings allowed.
Candidates were also asked for their views, and most said they wanted to be in more control of their careers.
Dobrin said: “Sharon and I decided it was time to move with the times and PJD was conceived. The site has taken over 18 months to develop and will keep evolving.”
He also pledged that they will not allow the job board to be hijacked by recruitment agencies, as has happened with some job boards.
Dobrin added: “When I started Estate Agency Personnel almost 17 years ago, the industry had only two or three recruitment agencies. Today there are many more, offering different levels of service. But now employers are more than able and willing to handle their own recruitment issues, and most importantly they are watching their costs.”

See Profile or Message Ian Dobrin | Hi Jim
Just to clarify, after 17 years working in EA recruitment and 15 years operating Estate Agency Personnel Ltd I am winding EAP down to concentrate 100% on propertyjobsdirect.com with my partner Sharon who is winding her agency down too. The site launches in April, we have over 250 branches nationally on site already with hopefully many more to join up very soon. This is the first time the UK Estate Agency market has a dedicated job site and we felt it should not be high jacked by agencies but it should be a job portal where Employers and Job Seekers can connect directly. Hope you check it out in April, KR Ian |
