'Come on in' message to passers-by
Monday 10th August 2009New technology has been launched for agents that will send marketing messages to the mobile phones of people passing your premises.
Hypertag, a ‘proximity marketing’ provider, says it is aimed at driving footfall and sales into independent businesses such as agents.
The Hypertag allows information to be downloaded free to mobile phones of passers-by. The information might be an offer, information, your house of the week, or it could be a link to your website.
Hypertag works by using short-range mobile wireless technologies such as Bluetooth to connect to consumers’ mobile phones based on their proximity to a fixed physical location.
Consumers need to have their Bluetooth turned on and turned to visible as they pass by, and they positively have to accept the message first. The phone generates an automatic message asking if they want to receive the content from the source, ‘Do you wish to receive info from estate agent?’
For £399, businesses can get the use of a Hypertag for a year. Once Hypertag has understood the marketing message, it will produce the content, pre-install it on the tag and deliver it to your business address. Then it is simply a case of plugging in the small Hypertag box and letting it get on with business.
Jonathan Morgan, managing director of Hypertag, said: “We’ve been increasing footfall and sales for the big chains for some time. Through talking to smaller independent businesses, we thought there was scope for offering this service at a more cost-effective level, and we are announcing the launch of that today.”
