Window shopping at property portals on the rise
Wednesday 30th September 2009Traffic to property portals in the UK grew from 8.9m in July to 9.7m in August, with Rightmove taking the lion’s share.
Its traffic grew from 2.8m in July to just over 3m in August – growth of 8.65%.
Behind it, with 2.3m visitors in August, came the Digital Property Group stable, fielding all four of its portals including Primelocation and FindaProperty. Together, traffic to these sites rose 11.19%
Propertyfinder’s traffic rose 8.5% to 1.4m, and newcomer Zoopla’s rose over 26% to 644,000.
The Zoopla and Propertyfinder sites are to be merged as one, although the name has yet to be announced, before the end of this year.
The traffic figures, amalgamated by Zoopla from website auditors Neilsen and ComScore, do however purport to show some losers. Trinity Mirror’s online offerings lost some 25% traffic between July and August. Fish4homes was also down by over 7%, and traffic to Home was also reduced.
