A radical group in south London has become the latest to claim responsibility for attacks on agents' boards outside vendors' homes.

The recent attacks have seen We Love Social Housing' messages pasted over the agents' details on boards outside homes in Clapham and Brixton.

The group which has claimed responsibility is called Lambeth Housing Activists and on its website (which has a startling lack of apostrophes) it says it consists of people involved in tenants and residents associations, housing co-ops, private renters groups, homeless organisations, trade unions and other housing campaign groups [sic].

The organisation says as a result of the damage the boards have been improved.

Earlier this year Foxtons and Hunters Estate Agents boards in Islington were covered with stickers proclaiming: 'Estate Agents: Everyone Hates You'. Hunters called in the police but Foxtons remained tight-lipped about the issue when contacted by EAT.

In Brixton - near where the latest attacks have taken place - the Foxtons office was the subject of graffiti and paint-throwing while some of its signs were turned into plant pots.

The problem is not confined to edgy parts of London.

In more tranquil Cornwall several boards advertising homes being marketed by Heather & Lay have been stolen or vandalised in Falmouth and nearby villages, while Milnes Estate Agents in Truro has also suffered board-thefts, recently obliging the firm to spend £700 on replacements.

If estate agents came and removed the signs in a timley fashion this might not occur. Signs have been up in my street in SW9 for months well after tennants have moved in and contracts signed. Dont complain about having to replace them when they are simply up as a form of illegal advertising.

What a horrible, inaccurate article. No wonder everybody thinks estate agents are slimy parasites who destroy families and cause massive poverty.

If you'd done your homework before rushing into criticising Lambeth Housing Activists website, you'd have found the responsible party..... http://bit.ly/1izox5H

Graham Norwood I don't think you've read the Lambeth Housing Activists post very carefully, as they are clearly not claiming responsibility, they're simply reporting what happened. There's absolutely nothing on their website that suggests they know who was responsible. You also state in your article that the messages say "We Love Social Housing", when in fact they say "I love Social Housing" - you seem content to misquote and mislead in your article, whilst at the same time denigrating the Lambeth Housing Activists website housingactivists.co.uk for it's lack of apostrophes!

    @ Guest (Victoria)

'It is clearly free advertising for greedy agents at the expense of others'.
    Is that all
Apart from possible 'unsightliness' - please explain your reasoning.

completly media created hating agents. Wht are these idiots ruining the chances of people who might just want to sell their homes for whateverf reason,,recession, divorce etc.... the media should educate these idiots instead of insighting hatred like they do with racism and anyone who trys to earn money in this confusing place called the Daily Mails England

I agree with a NO BOARDS policy. Attacking the boards and estate agents is not enough however. Managing companies should take responsibility in contacting the estate agents in writing and demand removal/zero installation of boards as they damage the fabric of the buildings and create an unsightly view of London. It is clearly free advertising for greedy agents at the expense of others. If they were charged hundreds of pounds per board, they would have stopped putting them up

Completely agree, full of nothing articles and adverts. Pointless. If you want your property news don't expect it here.

Yes, it is a misleading title. It has become the norm on this site in recent times, probably to create a reaction Why Just look at the number of comments to what used to be. EAT, this should make you think about the content because not many seem to be interested in what is being offered.
