The man behind moneysupermarket.com - one of the country's most successful price comparison websites - is selling up....but has chosen not to use an online agency.

Instead Simon Nixon, who is reportedly worth £810m, has chosen traditional high street agent Strutt & Parker to sell his five bedroom house close to Chester town centre. The property, valued at £1.65m, is close to the headquarters of the price comparison site.

Nixon, whose property portfolio extends to at least five homes including one on Jersey and a London apartment reportedly worth £39m, is believed to have paid £1.24m for the Chester house and has spent around £600,000 - meaning he will lose money even if the full asking price is achieved.

I may be out of pocket, but what I have lost in monetary terms, I have more than made up for in pleasure from this house he has told the Sunday Times.

I have to say this headline is silly. This is a good news story for Strutt and Parker and nothing whatsoever to do with online agents. It's a bit like saying Mr Nixon has 'shunned online shopping' just because he went to do a bit of shopping in his local high street. Just because the man set up a price comparison website doesn't mean he is should be expected to buy and sell everything online. It's 2015 - people (even fabled 'dot com millionaires') sometimes do stuff online and sometimes offline depending on circumstances. Has he ever to our knowledge investing in or praised online estate agents There's no mention of that in the story. I understand you are just looking for an interesting angle on the story but sorry guys, this headline is way too much of a stretch.
