Keller Williams, the US-owned agency which next month formally opens its soft launched' office in London's Victoria as well as one in Leeds, has recruited a senior London agent to head its UK sales and letting team.

Tom Barry, a former senior negotiator at Marsh & Parsons and before that at Kinleigh Folkard & Hayward, is focusing his first activities at Keller Williams at developing client relationships and building up the agency's sales and lettings stock in central London.

On Monday we reported that the agency had signed up 40 sole traders and independent estate agents since it started operating with a low-profile soft launch' last September.

Keller Williams has over 112,000 estate agents in 700 offices - which it calls market centres' - in 17 countries across the world. It is the largest estate agency in the United States.

It claims the UK business shares the company's global values of exceeding customer expectations, the commitment to training and mentoring entrepreneurial business people and to shared success for our customers and our team of agents.

The firm was founded in 1983 in Austin, Texas, with a single office. Last year alone it added another 17,000 agents to its workforce, mostly in north America.

* Earlier this week, and in an earlier version of this story, we referred to Tom Barry being 'poached' from Marsh & Parsons. We would like to make it clear that this was not the case. Tom Barry had left some time ago and was employed by two separate companies before joining KW. Our apologies for this inaccuracy.

"...has recruited a senior London agent to head its UK sales and letting team. ...a former senior negotiator..."

Look - I don't know this chap from Adam - he may well be the coyote's cojones and by far the best man for the job and I personally wish him well - but AT WHAT POINT does a senior neg position qualify as a headline heralding the person as "a key London agent"

Does that make a Branch Manager perfect CEO material
