An estate agent reportedly once earning £85,000 a year has been jailed for 27 months for running a cannabis farm to feed his own addiction.

Jordan McDonald, who worked at the Next Home agency in Perth, was discovered to be growing the drug when police raided a cottage in October last year.

A Scottish newspaper, The Courier, reports that McDonald was working on the drugs production with a friend, Justin Hughes, who has also been jailed, for 22 months.

The court in Perth heard the pair had started the illegal endeavour in a bid to feed the habit that had blighted their lives since childhood.

The property housed 62 useable plants with a street value of £9,920 to £29,760, together with small quantities of herbal cannabis worth a few hundred pounds.

The court heard that McDonald has now resigned from the estate agency, where he had hopes of being made a partner.

"An estate agent reportedly once earning 85,000 a year"

Reportedly being the operative word. If he's stupid enough to do something like this, I somehow doubt he was earning that amount of money. Sounds like another chancer. I just don't know how these people think they can get away with it.
