American magnate, philanthropist and investor Warren Buffett wants his company's name, Berkshire Hathaway, to be adopted by UK estate agents.

In the latest phase of Buffett's plan to roll out his brand across Asia and Europe, turning it into a global consumer name' in the process, he is making it available to estate agents in this country.

Interested firms will be asked to enter into a business partnership with Berkshire Hathaway, unlocking investment but requiring agreement to use the name.

The investor, now 84, has already rebranded his firms in the United States, integrating the logo and appearance of Berkshire Hathaway's realtors, utility firms and car dealerships.

By the end of March there are expected to be almost 1,400 branded Berkshire Hathaway realty offices in the United States.

The Financial Times reports that revenues in the Berkshire division that includes the real estate business jumped 26 per cent to $1.2 billion in the first six months of this year.
